KV Kortrijk imposes a stadium ban on 23 rioters from 6 months to 5 years | Jupiler Pro League

Both against Antwerp (beginning of this month) and against Zulte Waregem (last weekend), supporters caused tumult in the Guldenspoor Stadium. Each time, the game was halted for a few minutes.

“Everyone is stunned and shocked by the violence. The Guldenspoor Stadium is a place where people should be able to experience a match in a sporty and safe atmosphere. There can therefore absolutely never be room for violence,” says KV Kortrijk in a press release.

To prevent even more violence, KV Kortrijk sat together with the city of Kortrijk and the competent police zone. From that meeting came some measures against the identified rioters.

KV Kortrijk itself has imposed a stadium ban on 23 supporters. That ban varies from 6 months to 5 years (for 2 people).

The mayor of Kortrijk is strengthening these stadium bans by imposing an additional 23 1-month bans on the rioters. A restraining order means that those persons are not allowed to hang out near the stadium during a match.

The police also prepare reports for each of the identified rioters and deliver them to the federal Football Cell. On this basis, the rioters will be invited for a hearing and they also risk a criminal stadium ban. During this period, they will be denied access to any Belgian stadium.
