Judo Canet 66 on the way to the French championships

By shining at the Occitania championships last weekend, several judokas from Canet obtained their qualification for the French championships.

This is the case of Maela Badet who, by winning the title of Occitanie minim champion in Toulouse, qualified for the French championships in Paris which will take place on Saturday March 26 and which will bring together the 50 best French women. This is a hell of a performance for Maela who is only minimal 1st year. In the cadet category, Shainez Manaa Deagostini, Jules Jourdain and Julien Jimenez have also qualified for the French U23 championships which will take place in May in Clermont-Ferrand. Among the juniors, the step was a bit high for the Canet judokas who are all 1st year, but they still have two years in this category to imitate their comrades.

The youngsters of the club have also shone in the departmental championships where the minimal and the youngest have brought back multiple titles and podiums and the chicks have collected gold medals. From now on, place for some friendly inter club tournaments to prepare for the 1st Canet tournament for children organized by Judo Canet 66 on Sunday June 12 which will bring together clubs from across the region.

These fine overall results reward the excellent training provided over the years for all the different level groups and contribute to the extraordinary atmosphere specific to the club which reigns on the tatamis of the dojo on the leisure hill. These results are recognized at the national level since Ashraf Didouh was admitted to the Pôle France in Marseille and Mélanie Sapateiro and Shainez Manaa Deagostini at the Pôle espoir in Montpellier.

The price of this success is the unprecedented enthusiasm that the club is currently experiencing with 360 small licensed judokas, which makes Judo Canet 66 the most important club in the department and one of the biggest clubs in Occitanie in terms of of workforce. What a long way to go for 13 years, when the club was restarting with 22 licensees.
