Hamburg Towers celebrate BBL points record: Kotsar outstanding

After three league bankruptcies in a row, the Hamburg Towers once again won in the home game against s. Oliver Würzburg – and in doing so broke their own BBL point record. But not everything went well in the 113:103 offensive fireworks (60:54) against the basement child who was winless away from home. The Wilhelmsburg team presented themselves too inconsistently at times, especially in the first section. But one towered above – again.

Maik Kotsar hit everything that Friday evening. The Estonian, who is an eye-catcher at 2.11 meters, scored 30 points, equaling his career best. The 25-year-old sank all of his first 14 double attempts from the field, only the last attempt just before the buzzer missed the net. The giant was the main architect of the home win. By halftime, Kotsar had scored 19 points and collected 12 rebounds.

Because the defense was anything but solid, Max DiLeo only relaxed the 1,203 spectators in the edel-optics.de Arena with a threesome a minute before the end. “I’m happy, but that was only possible because of my colleagues who left their hearts on the court,” said match winner Kotsar. As a reward for breaking the 100 mark, the Towers received donuts in the dressing room.
