February 27, a date like no other for Stephen Curry

Tonight, Golden State welcomes the Dallas of Luka Doncic, and we wonder what will achieve Stephen Curry this February 27.

Why ? Because it was on this date that the Warriors point guard achieved two of his best career performances. First on February 27, 2013, with his old points record against the Knicks, at Madison Square Garden.

The Knicks, 3rd in the East, host the Warriors, 6th in the West. Coached by Mark Jackson, the latter have not experienced the playoffs since 2007. Extended at the start of the season for 48 million over four years, Stephen Curry is still far from being a superstar, and he is not even All-Star . But it is this February evening that he will lay the first stones of his legend.

In the Mecca of basketball, he will plant 54 points with an incredible 11 of 13 from 3-pointers. All with 6 rebounds and 7 assists, even though he was back-to-back! Opposite, the Knicks will try everything to stop him, but Stephen Curry is in a state of grace. Today, we are used to the heat strokes of the double MVP but, at the time, no one imagined him capable of catching fire in this way…

The problem is that his teammates are not having a great night, and it is finally Tyson Chandler who will save the Knicks with one of his best career games: 16 points and… 28 rebounds!

Midfield victory!

Three years later, Stephen Curry made a new anthology match on February 27. It’s against Kevin Durant’s Oklahoma City. In Golden State’s historic regular season, which will end with 73 wins to erase Michael Jordan’s Bulls record, Stephen Curry is in a permanent state of grace, and this game may be the pinnacle of that.

Yet mistreated by the duo Russell Westbrook – Kevin Durant, the Warriors rely on their chief artificer, helped by Klay Thompson. But it is Stephen Curry (46 points) who will make the difference, with a 12/16 from afar (his record at the time) and crazier and more “clutch” shots than each other.

And in particular this last stab in the extra time, three meters behind the 3-point line!
