Coach Julian Nagelsmann had an excuse for Bayern’s weakest game this season. He hadn’t tried them after the 5-0 defeat at Borussia Mönchengladbach in the DFB Cup in October, that would have been bad form. But he wasn’t there, he was quarantined at home in his kitchen. And that’s why the question remained open at the time: Could the coach, famous for his coaching, have helped his team while they were being overwhelmed?
