Club NXT is doing golden business, Bakkali falls in

As is customary, football is played on Monday evening in our country’s national U23 league. The stakes this season are therefore particularly high, because the final top four will decorate a place in 1B next year. Tonight Club NXT in particular did an excellent job with that reward in mind.

Club NXT had to beat STVV if it wanted to keep its chances of a place in 1B intact. The boys of Rik De Mil started the match very well. After 34 minutes, Club NXT was awarded a penalty. Lynnt Audoor converted it flawlessly. In the second half, things went a lot more difficult for the Bruggelings. Abakar Sylla got a red card pushed under the nose, and Club NXT had to work hard to get the win. In the end, Audoor saved the day with his second goal of the evening. With the three-pointer, Club NXT again jumps over KAA Gent, and is currently fourth in the standings.

Anderlecht and Genk do not fail

The numbers one and two in the standings, RSC Anderlecht and KRC Genk, did not fail in their turn. Anderlecht won 1-3 against Zulte Waregem. Stassin was the match winner with two goals. The other goal came through the foot of summer acquisition Bouchouari. The most striking name at Anderlecht was undoubtedly that of Zakaria Bakkali. The Belgian Moroccan was, as it were, fished out of nowhere by trainer Veldman, and was allowed to come in for a few minutes at the end of the match. However, in a decisive action Bakkali did not succeed.

Because of the three-pointer, the youngsters from Neerpede stay in the wake of KRC Genk. The Limburgers – who took the measure of Chelsea this week – have not lost a single game this season. That was also the case tonight. Genk won 2-1 against KV Mechelen at home, and therefore remains in joint first place with Anderlecht. The Limburgers did play a game less than the Brussels residents.
