Beerschot, which had already been teased, was hit again after barely ten minutes. A shot by Moreno deflected on Dom’s leg and flew over the hopeless Biebauw in goal.
Beerschot again seemed like a bird for the cat, but fought against all expectations again in the game. On the half hour, Avenatti, ex-Kortrijk, scored the equalizer wonderfully in the intersection.
Ten minutes later, Sebaoui followed his example with the equally beautiful 2-1. And on the stroke of half-time it even became almost 3-1, Ilic knocked Shankland’s ball out of his goal.
Anyone expecting a fierce reaction from the visitors after the break was disappointed. Kortrijk didn’t show more than a few shots from the second line. In fact, it was once again the home side that came closest to scoring, Shankland’s place ball flew just wide of the crossing.
All in all, Beerschot held out easily until the final whistle and can continue to hope for a miracle.
