Badminton: after the Interclubs, the Trophy of the city of Vénissieux

Not far from 200 badminton players are expected this weekend to shine in doubles and mixed, on the occasion of the Trophy of the city of Vénissieux of badminton, edition 2022.

After cancellations or postponements of series competition for two seasons, Covid obliges, badminton no longer stops. The competitions follow one another, like a day of Interclubs which was scheduled for Sunday, January 30, at the Jacques-Brel gymnasium (the Venissian club had won its two matches).

This week-end, Badminton Vénissieux Sud-Est organizes “its” Trophy of the city of Vénissieux, a doubles and mixed tournament installed on the two gymnasiums Elsa-Triolet and Jacques-Brel, i.e. 12 playing fields available for some 16 to 18 hours of non-stop badminton.

The doubles matches will take place on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and the mixed ones on Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To date, just under 190 teams are expected, with some clubs sending several teams as the competition is open from unclassified to N3.

For the record, the two referees very experienced will be Olivier Martin, who worked at Les Plumes de l’Ouest (Marcy l’Étoile), on January 9, and Quentin Bouillard, head of the score table for the 16th national edition of the Francs Lyonnais, last December, in Genay.
