Asked on the sidelines of the Dallas tournament on which he was eliminated in the semi-finals by his compatriot Jenson Brooksby, Marcos Giron gave his point of view on the level of play of Rafael Nadal whom he recently faced in the first round of the Australian Open (loss 1–6, 4–6, 2–6).
“He may not have been 100%, but it was still a good experience. I think you take for granted the discipline he shows, his shots are just phenomenal. When you play against him, it’s not just the power and speed he plays with, but also the decisions he makes, so it’s hard to beat him. It was very difficult to raise on his service games. His serves are not very powerful, but what he is able to do regarding decision-making is really impressive. »
