Women’s US Open endowment climbs to $ 10 million in 2022

Mike Whan was already doing wonders for women’s golf when he was head of the LPGA. Now big boss of the USGA, the American continues his work in favor of women’s sport by increasing the financial scale of the women’s US Open.

Here is now the American Major with a new partner (ProMedica, a non-profit healthcare company) and a prize money that suddenly wins $ 4.5 million to increase to 10 million greenbacks (an 81% increase). This endowment should also gradually increase to reach 11 or even 12 million dollars by 2026.

Gradually the staffing gap between the male and female versions of the American Open tends to decrease. Thus, the Women’s US Open 2022 (played from June 2 to 5 at the Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in Southern Pines) will be “only” $ 2.5 million less well endowed than the US Open 2021.
