With historic triple-doubles by James and Westbrook, Lakers cut five-game losing streak

Lyou Los Angeles Lakers shook off their worst streak of the season, five defeats, to beat the Houston Rockets 132-123 on Tuesday with triple-doubles by LeBron James and Russell Westbrook.

James finished with 32 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists for his third statistical triple-double of the season. Westbrook had 24 points, 12 boards and 10 assists for his seventh.

Houston held out much of the night, but James took over in the end for the Lakers to get away with the win and hand the Rockets their fifth straight loss.

Houston trailed by one when they called James interference on a Jalen Green layup to give the Rockets the lead with two and a half minutes to play. But the Lakers challenged the decision, which was reversed.

Carmelo Anthony landed a triple seconds later to extend the lead to 120-116.

James added two free throws after that. His one-handed run after a Houston fumble made it 124-116 with less than 90 seconds to play.

Kevin Porter’s three-pointer shot Houston closer to five, before James struck again with a layup that extended the lead. Then LeBron made four free throws to secure the victory.
