Why was your wife Jelena missing from the press family appearance?

It was a bizarre scene when Novak Djokovic’s family members put their arms over their shoulders and started a well-known Serbian song. That was the end of a press conference marked by pathos, which was canceled without further ado after a critical question about the tennis star’s corona disease.

Djokovic’s father Srdjan, mother Dijana, brother Djordje and his uncle Goran took part in the PR event. One family member was missing from the event: his wife Jelena Djokovic.

The 35-year-old had last spoken publicly on January 6th about the denied entry of the tennis star by Australian authorities. She shared a photo with her husband on Instagram and thanked all supporters: “Thank you, dear people, all over the world for using your voice to send love to my husband. I take a deep breath to calm myself down and find gratitude (and understanding) in that moment for everything that is happening, ”she wrote. More than 578,000 users follow her on Instagram.

Jelena Djokovic spreads conspiracy stories popular with corona deniers

Novak and Jelena Djokovic have been married since 2014 and have been a couple since 2005. The couple have two children together. Jelena Djokovic heads the Novak Djokovic Foundation, which was founded in 2007. The foundation works for children and young people in Serbia and supports, for example, the construction of kindergartens and schools.

Jelena Djokovic is not without controversy. As several media report unanimously, she spread conspiracy stories on her Instagram channel in April 2020, but they are no longer available there. She shared a ten-minute video by US doctor Thomas Cowan, who spoke about the alleged connection between 5G technology for mobile communications and the emergence of the corona pandemic. The video, which was viewed almost 100,000 times, was marked as incorrect information by Instagram.
