Olivier Aertssen is overjoyed with his debut in Young Ajax, he tells Broadcasting Zeeland. He started in the starting line-up during the away match against Jong FC Utrecht and immediately played the entire match.
‘Very special of course, especially since I’m only 17 years old’, says the talent. ‘The night before I got a call from the trainer that I would start in the base. It was almost unreal, what you feel. At first I could hardly believe it, but after that you are of course proud.’
“I had some nerves beforehand, but luckily that quickly subsided,” continues the footballing defender. “I was sharp right away and of course it helped that we took the lead quickly. After that we handled the pressure well.’
Aertssen will not walk beside his shoes and as a seventeen-year-old knows that every minute in professional football is included. He actually hopes for more. ‘That would be very nice. I’m already training with Jong and hope to be able to make many more minutes this season.’
