Two interesting acquisitions for the Capitals

The Capitales de Québec announced that they had offered contracts to Quebec outfielder Marc-Antoine Lebreux and Canadian relief pitcher Jake Sims on Monday.

Lebreux had a dominant 2021 season with the Saint-Eustache Bisons in the Quebec Elite Junior Baseball League, allowing his team to win the championship. He maintained a return of almost an RBI per game in the regular season, but surpassed himself in the playoffs with 17 points in 14 games and a batting average of .429.

He has also evolved with the University of Virginia over the past two years. The 22-year-old hasn’t shown great offensive performances in the United States in 2021, having to settle for an average of .232.

“My style of play is really pushing things by getting to the goal and using my speed. I’m aggressive, so I can’t wait to see how it translates at this level of competition, ”Lebreux said in a statement.

Sims, a 24-year-old right-hander, is a former 31st round pick with the San Diego Padres in 2018. An arm injury kept him from joining Team Quebec in the Frontier League last year.

In the US minor ranks, he struck out 81 batters in 47 innings of work.
