This is MU’s Fatal Mistake After Sir Alex Gone

Jakarta

Manchester United have struggled since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013. Former assistant Sir Alex, Rene Meulensteen, revealed the main mistakes MU.

Manchester United has barely been able to compete in the Premier League title competition since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013. The ‘Red Devils’ even struggled in the top four battles.

In the eight full seasons since Sir Alex left, United have finished runners-up twice. But even then, with their record not providing fierce resistance to the winning team, they had to settle for finishing 12 points behind in 2017/2018 and 19 points in 2020/2021, both from Manchester City.

A total of five permanent managers, two caretakers and one interim manager have been in charge of Manchester United since Sir Alex left until now. Jose Mourinho became the most successful with the achievement of the Europa League, Premier League Cup and Community Shield.

Former assistant Sir Alex Ferguson Rene Meulensteen said United’s first mistake was failing to present a manager with another great charisma. For example Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp.

Both Guardiola and Klopp are now bringing Manchester City and Liverpool actively competing for the top spot in the Premier League.

“United failed to steal the opportunity to get one of them. They have such an aura of presence and influence in their respective clubs,” said Rene Meulensteen was quoted as saying The Sun.

“If Liverpool players were asked ‘Do you know what you’re doing?’, they would all say ‘Yes’. Just ask City players, no matter how much Pep changes things, ‘You know what you’re doing?’ , they will all say ‘Yes’.”

“Ask the United players and I don’t think you will get a solid answer. But make no mistake, if the two clubs don’t prepare well for their departure, they will end up in the same position (with United),” he added.
