After Alexis Cervantes, Mexican professional basketball player, was released this December 29, after he was kidnapped by an armed group, a video was released assuring that he was detained by his captors for alleged links with organized crime.
Cervantes, who plays for Libertadores de Querétaro in the National Professional Basketball League of Mexico (LNBP), disappeared on December 21 and he was found alive this Wednesday in a rural area of the western state of Michoacán, along with a taxi driver he had hired to take them to the state of Jalisco.
After the kidnapping and his release alive, a clip has been disseminated on social networks where he is seen tied to a chair, with marks of blows on his face and in which he “explains” the reasons why he was deprived of his liberty.
“I am Alexis Francisco Cervantes Guerrero, originally from Guasave, Sinaloa. The reason I’m here is because some people stopped me, They found on my cell phone things that are photos, videos with weapons, photos with the Sinaloa mafia. Photos with my cousin who worked for the chief of gunmen in an area of Guasave that he was on patrol ”, he mentioned in the first part of the video.
In the recording of just over two minutes, the young man stated that he also ventured into the world of drugs.

Another of the revelations that Alexis Cervantes made was that, despite being a professional athlete, he claimed to be a addicted to banned substances like cocaine, in addition to have close ties to organized crime.
“One day we talked and we went to drink. I liked. I like the riot, I love cocaine. And that’s why I’m here. Comments in which I make fun of the cartels here from Michoacán as if I were someone heavy, “he revealed.
Finally, without knowing at the time if what he declared were truths or simple forced words, the basketball player also described himself as a “fool” and talkative.
“I’m a simple asshole basketball player, boastful, bluff, what I wanted to show something that is not. I accept the punishment, I take the lesson ”, he specified.
