They came from Santander, Tuluá and Urabá to be champions at the Festival

Joy, color and brotherhood once again parade through the sports venues of Medellín with the return of the Festival of Festivals, after two years of absence due to the pandemic.

The Atanasio Girardot sports unit, the Marte Uno field, the La Tablaza coliseum and the Comfenalco Guayabal field receive these days the future champions of the national sport.

Minors who enjoy their World Cup and their mini Olympic Games, as recognized by Carolina Pineda, coach and professional soccer player, who is also part of the technical staff of the Bloque de El Limonar de Cali team, which competes in the current edition of the contest.

“It is a very beautiful and competitive tournament, in which we feel like playing a World Cup, because many girls come with great talent and that is why we always like to participate,” she commented.

There are 1,152 footballers, 720 men and 432 women who come to Medellín to seek the title and leave their mark in a contest that serves to make themselves known at the national level.

That is the case of María Celeste González, the Rincón de Girón player, who scored the first goal of the championship, in her team’s 4-0 victory over the representative of El Bagre.

“Happy for the goal, for my team, because we achieved what we set out to do in the technical talk. Now I dream of continuing to score more goals to finish as the team’s top scorer ”, the athlete from Santander told the event’s official website.

The team, which has been fourth in 2020, hopes to contest the title this year.

About Celeste, Jorge Andrés Zuluaga, from Los Paisitas, wrote on the contest’s official website that behind his talent and achievements there are many hours of effort and sacrifice.

Celeste gets up very early to jog every day to improve her stamina and physical performance.

In addition, he has a personalized coach, who has helped him a lot to increase his performance to the point of becoming part of the Santander Children’s Team.

Flor Azucena Bonilla, the player’s mother commented that “since she was a little girl, she wanted balls, not dolls or anything like that.”

She has always been the support of Celeste, who at 13 years of age makes long trips from Barrancabermeja, the city where they live, to Bucaramanga to train with the national team and their team.

Soccer is everything for Celeste and her main aspiration is to reach the Colombian National Team. His dribbles, imbalance and speed, accompanied by his discipline and determination, will surely open that way for him.

Like her, dozens of players live on the Marte Uno court the first chapter of a story that they hope will take them to the top.

This Monday, while the athletes of athletics and cycling say goodbye to the contest with their medals and results, another seven disciplines come into action, to continue decorating recreational and educational sports.

Skating, baseball, basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, futsal and soccer will continue with their programming in this celebration of joy and color
