The Vandenhaute-Mannaert duo take over the presidency of the Pro League

The general assembly of the Pro League, gathered this Monday by interposed screens, decided to return to the possibility of postponing a match when a core is affected by seven cases, at least, as proposed by the management of the league.

This possibility, used on several occasions in 2020, had disappeared from the regulation in recent months. Concretely, only players presenting at least 30% of the playing time are taken into account, not reservists or young people, therefore.

On the other hand, the wish of certain clubs to postpone the resumption day of the championship from next weekend was not followed, but the other big news of this GA is the appointment as co-presidents of the Pro League of Vincent Mannaert and Wouter Vandenhaute.

The manager of Club Brugge and the president of Anderlecht have been appointed to replace Peter Croonen, who resigned in December. They will therefore lead the league until June and will be in charge of the thorny issues of the moment, such as changes in the social and fiscal status of players.

“They are committed in the next six months (until June 30) to fully support the Pro League in a number of crucial issues for the future of professional football (short and long term), in consultation with the CEO Pierre François, the Board of Directors of the Pro League and the external partners “, let the league know.
