Buchanan came in and did his thing. It is still a bit of a wait for real individual flashes, but with an assist and a good performance he already contributed in Liège. Although Buchanan did not show the best of himself in his first two games, it is already clear that he is an extra weapon for Club. It is a pity for the people of Bruges that he will be out for a while, although that was already taken into account when the signatures were placed last summer: “He is extremely fast and can be dangerous with both the left and the right”, said Clinton Mata. “It’s good that we have such a player – in training we already saw what he is capable of”.
CONCACAF Qualifiers
In concrete terms, Buchanan will leave for Canada at the beginning of this week, where he and his national team will play three important World Cup qualifiers. Canada is group leader in the CONCACAF Qualifiers, in which it will have to maintain that lead against Honduras (27/1), the United States (30/1) and El Salvador (3/2) in the coming weeks. In the meantime, he misses the top match against Union, the match in Kortrijk and both Club’s cup and league match against AA Gent.
Especially now that Canada has to do without Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich) on the left, the country on the other side is counting on the flashes of Buchanan. The same goes for Club, in the hope that the winger can gain extra confidence: “Hopefully we get to Qatar, because that is the dream for 2022”, Buchanan knew about this during the winter internship. “Winning the title and the cup together and playing Champions League football.” And whether he will closely follow the matches against Union and Gent from North America between the international obligations.
