Sprinter Deon Lendore died at 29 in car crash in Texas

It was the former Olympian Ato Boldon, his compatriot, who made the announcement: Deon Lendore (29) unfortunately died on Monday in a car accident in Texas. The exact circumstances of the accident are still unknown.

Regular opponent of the Borlée brothers on the international circuit, the sprinter from Trinidad and Tobago contributed to his country’s Olympic bronze medal in the 4x400m relay at the London Games in 2012 and to his team’s silver medal during of the 2015 Worlds in Beijing.

In individual, Lendore had climbed twice on the podium of the World Indoor, finishing 3rd in the 400m in 2016 and in 2018. Holder of a personal best of 44.36 (outdoor) and 45.03 (indoor), he had reached the semi-finals. – 400m finals in Tokyo last summer, during his third participation in the Olympics.
