some regulation changes in view of Paris 2024 – OA Sport

Towards Paris 2024 with some changes to the regulation. This is what the International Judo Federation has made known on its official channels.

“We have received proposals from the National Federationssaid Vladimir Barta, the head of the sports direction of the IJFevaluating its usefulness: the goal is to make judo more dynamic and more attractive to the public and media covering the events. The new rules will come into force as early as 2022 and can be observed closely at the Odivelas Grand Prix, scheduled from January 28th to 30th, in Portugal ”.

But what are these new rules that, we already announce, have not met with great social success among judo fans?

The first: the projection known as “Reverse Seoi Nage” will no longer be a move that will bring points, on the contrary. It will be subject to a penalty for the judoka who attempts to execute.

The second: the continuous adjustment of the hairstyle or judogi during the match leads to a penalty shido.

The third: the entry into a technique carried out through the primary advancement of the head, with consequent clash with the opponent, will result in an immediate disqualification. In addition, all athletes who fall on the mat by placing two elbows or two hands on the ground will be penalized.

Finally, here is a video tutorial that summarizes the situation
