RWE: Who should replace Dennis Grote?

Regional soccer team Rot-Weiss Essen will meet Wuppertaler SV next Sunday. It is still unclear who will replace Dennis Grote.

Regionalliga-Primus Red and white food has at the third division Victoria Cologne (2:4) earned lost and seems to be against the pursuer a week before the start of the rest of the round Wuppertal SV (23.01., 2 p.m.) not yet in top form. Especially the ones that have been so strong over the past two years RWE-Defensive seemed anything but stable in the Höhenberg sports park and allowed for a number of big chances. Little went forward either, so that the offensive was hardly fed with usable balls. The Essen game lacked structure.

Of course, it was just a test match. Nevertheless, the question arises: who should actually be captain Dennis Grote substitute? A replacement for the suspended top performer, who always played the full distance in the first 18 league games and was directly involved in seven goals, has not yet been presented. It will be almost impossible to find an equal player in winter anyway. It’s not just about the quality of play and the enormous experience that the former Bundesliga-professional can show. But: Grote was a leader on the pitch, a leading player that the young players could also use as a guide. The 35-year-old undoubtedly set the pace in Essen’s game and was the head of the team, but was also an important contact for his team-mates.

He’s a boy with prospects. Of course, at his age, he is not yet a finished player. The week he was training with us he did very well. We also have to have a little patience. It’s not like he’s there now and we have the Grote replacement.

The RWE coach asks for patience with newcomer Fabian Rüth.

With Fabian Rüth (TSG Hoffenheim II) the Essen team have a 20-year-old youngster on Thursday Committed, who can play in defensive midfield. In his young career, the 1.87 meter man played significantly more games as a central defender. RWE coach Christian Neidhart Rüth sees it as six, but doesn’t want to burden the native of Cologne with the Grote successor: “He’s a boy with prospects. Of course he’s not a ready player at his age. In the week he was training with us , he did it very well. We also have to be patient. It’s not like he’s here now and we have the Grote replacement,” Neidhart explained and elaborated:

“Rüth is a playful six. He plays good, deep balls and is similar to Cedric Harenbrock in football, even if he plays in a different position. We have two more sixes in Niklas Tarnat and Luca Dürholtz. Even if one breaks away from us we could still play with a six and two eights. I have no qualms about that.”

Whether it Red and white food succeeds in closing the big gap – without further newcomers – the coming weeks will show.
