RWE: Jörn Nowak on transfers, Neidhart contract, Grote and RWO

Before the Regionalliga West cracker between Essen and Wuppertal, Jörn Nowak also commented on various topics at the matchday press conference.

Jorn Nowak (35), Sports Director of Red and white food, over…

… possible transfers until the end of January: “Something can always happen in the last few days of the transfer window. But our assessment of the squad has nothing to do with the upcoming top games against Wuppertal and at Fortuna Köln. We have absolute confidence in the squad. We’re going into the second half of the season with a lead. We have no reason to change anything at the moment.”

… the personnel of Dennis Grote and a possible contract termination:

“We are currently in contact with his advisor. Dennis has the ball. It’s always about the big picture, about Rot-Weiss Essen. That’s why we made this decision and nothing else. We have the absolute quality and structure in the team to be successful without Dennis. It’s not a question of experience or age. It’s always just about quality. Last year BVB II got promoted without any old players. At least there weren’t many.”

At Rot-Weiss Essen, such a step that RWO has taken is not an issue at all. On the contrary: we are investing even more to improve and optimize the infrastructure in the youth academy and introduce talent to the first team.

Jorn Nowak

… an early contract extension for Christian Neidhart:

“Our goal is clearly the 3rd division. We want to get there and Christian wants to go back there. We have set out on a clear path together. We’ll talk about everything else when the time comes.”

… the game cancellations due to positive corona cases:

“Corona will be an issue in the rest of the round. The question will be: who handles English weeks best? We can set the clock to when it hits the next club. But I have no fears that the season will be under or will be canceled. We will finish the season. I’m sure of that.”

… the end for the Oberhausen DFB youth academy:

“It’s sad news. Youth work is close to my heart and has always been important to me. Back then in Oberhausen, we invested a lot of time and effort to get this star from the DFB. From an economic point of view, it’s absolutely understandable that that RWO is now giving up the certification. The demands of the DFB are increasing in this area. As a smaller club you get into a quandary. But I’m curious to see how RWO solves that. It’s mainly about the younger teams, the are currently playing in the NRW youth rounds. I don’t know how that will continue in Oberhausen from July 1, 2022. At Rot-Weiss Essen, such a step that RWO has taken is not an issue at all. On the contrary: we are still investing more to improve and optimize the infrastructure in the youth academy and introduce talent to the first team.”
