Roma loan Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Arsenal

AS Roma recruited new players in the January transfer market. Roma signed Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Arsenal.

Roma announced the transfer of Maitland-Niles via its official website, Saturday (8/1/2022) night WIB. Giallorossi recruited the 24-year-old footballer on loan until the end of the 2021/2022 season.

“I’m happy to be here and can’t wait to develop. I want to help the team and show what I can do as a player,” Maitland-Niles told the club’s official website.

“Thanks to the fans for the support they have shown me. I hope we can do something extraordinary at the end of the season.”

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is an Arsenal academy graduate and made his first team debut in 2014. He was loaned out to Ipswich Town and West Bromwich Albion.

Maitland-Niles made a total of 132 appearances together The Gunners. He is known as a versatile player who has played in various positions such as right back, left wing back, central midfielder and winger.

“With Maitland-Niles, Roma have a young player who fits the profile we are looking for to improve the squad and cover various positions,” said Roma general manager Tiago Pinto.

“When we spoke to Ainsley we were really impressed by his enthusiasm for the prospect of joining us and the opportunity to work with Jose Mourinho.”
