Resumption in full construction for the BCB

It is already the recovery and BC Boncourt is still all messed up. The Red Team returns to the Swiss Basketball League championship this Tuesday on the Nyon floor at 7:30 p.m., yet not yet rebuilt after the sweep between the holidays. Eric Katenda, Marc Seylan and Jason Ricketts were fired and offered an amicable breakup. If Jason Ricketts accepted, the other two players had not yet given their answer Monday afternoon according to the president of the club Grégory Franc, which delayed the arrival of two recruits for the match in Nyon. In short, the BCB is still in the process of playing an important match to try to afford a breath of fresh air and get out of this uncomfortable 8th place.

A purely sporting choice according to Vladimir Ruzicic

A small crisis, materialized by the eviction of three players, on which the coach Vladimir Ruzicic agreed for the first time to speak, without spreading out and remaining in the political correctness. These departures are, according to him, only sporting choices. “Quite simply, they weren’t producing enough, they weren’t at the level of play that we hoped for and that we had established in the pre-season. My relationship with them? They were good, I have nothing to say about them. It is a purely basketball decision, to progress, “says the Boncourtois coach to sweep away any controversy. On December 29, President Grégory Franc nevertheless evoked “tensions and misunderstandings between the coach and certain players”. Responsibility for the poor results is therefore mainly attributed to the players. The management had also reaffirmed its confidence in his coach despite the weaknesses of the team similar to previous seasons.

“I don’t see why it would be a coach problem”

Vladimir Ruzicic, however, denies being untouchable. “If I give the chance to certain players season after season, and the content does not improve, I do not see why it would be a problem of the coach… But I take my share of responsibility in our choices of play, and I choose them. men whom I believe are cut out for this game project, ”explains the Serbian coach, who does not intend to change his philosophy in view of the results. “The approach to basketball remains the same. Can we play differently? Yes of course ! But do we have enough players to cover all the positions? Sufficient time, sufficient quality? With what we have, we are satisfied, and we will continue to play in this direction ”. Vladimir Ruzicic is now advancing limited resources as a shield against possible criticism. His team, currently 8th in the Swiss Basketball League, remains however far from the objectives announced at the start of the season and will still have to do some tinkering on Tuesday for its resumption. The BCB should align in Nyon some elements from the U23 to complete its workforce. / jpi
