Remiremont: the Judo and Taïso club is doing well despite the Covid-19 crisis

Lhe Covid-19 crisis, which has been in the news for two years now, and the various restrictions associated with it, have had a significant impact on the functioning of companies and associations. Despite these inconveniences, the Judo and Taïso club is doing well.

The number of members for the 2019/2020 season was 270. He had gone for the season 2020/2021 at 200. Currently there is 210 members. A small drop, therefore, last year. “We hope it will start again once this is all over,” says Nathalie Ferry, president of the club. And we hope it will be over soon.

Anyway, the life of the club continues, with training and competitions. For those who would like to discover the disciplines offered, two trial sessions are possible at the dojo. Then membership is offered with a decreasing subscription rate in the middle of the year.

For those who are already members of the club, the current period is that of the passage of the belts. There are twice a year, in February and May/June. Since September, the judokas learn new techniques. There is also to know a moral code, expressions, points of general culture.

“We have good judokas”, says Nathalie Ferry. The young Layla Berg, in particular, often qualified in championships, who is currently preparing a Certificate of Professional Qualification, to eventually become a judo teacher or educator.

After the creation of a sports section for high school students about two years ago, the club has been providing a section at the Tertre college since September 2021. Three hours a week, during school time, training is organized with two teachers. The club fully funds this college sports section.

The other flagship activity of the club is of course the Taïso. From the cardio and du rmuscular strength. Last summer, sessions were organized outdoors, at the Remiremont lake. A formula that has pleased and should be renewed. “It is accessible to all, in the sense that everyone does what they can (…) At their own pace”, explains Nathalie Ferry. Selon the physical condition, the exercises can be modified. “The teacher adapts the movement according to each one”.

With the Covid crisis, as in many associations, you have to vsee what can be done This year. On the Judo side, the volunteers would like to organize a “Challenge des Hautes Vosges” for the little ones, from 5 to 10 years old. The event is expected to take place in May.
