PGA: Smith is no longer alone at the top

golf/story">

Australian golfer Cameron Smith, who had finished each of the first two rounds of the Champions Sentry alone at the top of the standings, was finally joined on the third day of activities on Saturday on the island of Maui, in the Hawaiian archipelago.

Despite handing in an excellent 64 (-9) card for a second straight day, which allows him to post a cumulative 193 (-26), Smith will start the final round on a level playing field with Spaniard Jon Rahm.

The latter flew over the Plantation course in Kapalua, slashing 12 punches at par of 73. Rahm ended his day particularly well, wedging an eagle and four birdies in the last five flags. He eventually pulled off an eagle and 11 birdies, against a single boguey.

The two men should logically not be too worried by their pursuers during the final round, since they will start it with a priority of five strikes on the golfer closest to them: the American Daniel Berger.

No Canadian participates in this event which brings together all those who won a PGA event in 2021, that is to say 38 players.
