Days more than hectic for Novak Djokovic, in a journey that will not be easy to forget.
Finally, an Australian court on Monday ordered the release of number one, the Serbian Novak Djokovic, who had been detained since last Thursday in a hotel in the city of Melbourne after the revocation of his visa for not being vaccinated against Covid-19 and in principle he could play in the Australian Open.
Given this, he expressed himself on social networks: “I am pleased and grateful that the judge reversed the cancellation of my visa. Despite everything that has happened, I want to stay and try to compete in the Australian Open.”
“I’m still focused on that. I flew here to play one of the biggest events we have in front of amazing fans. Back of hand with index finger pointing down,” he said.
“For now I can not say more, but THANK YOU all for being with me in all this and encouraging me to stay strong,” he completed.
Even so, it should be remembered, Alex Hawke, Minister of Immigration, is considering canceling Djokovic’s visa, as allowed by section 1333C of the Migration Act. Hawke will not cancel the visa this Monday, so the Serbian will be able to recover his freedom in Melbourne, although he will await Hawke’s decision to see if he can play.
