Nick Caserio: Deshaun Watson most likely will not return in 2022

After four years of prosperity with los Texans, Deshaun Watson’s career suffered an abrupt turnaround in 2021 due to off-sports problems. After not playing the regular season, in Houston they are more than determined to part with the pin.

In an interview for SportsRadio 610, Nick Caserio, general manager of the Texans, revealed that there is a strong possibility that Watson will not be the club’s passer for the 2022 season.

“There are indications that it probably isn’t anymore,” the executive explained. “I think we have to be receptive, look at the information and process it, then make the decision that makes the most sense for everyone involved.”

Watson, 26, faces 22 accusations of sexual assault, which is why he did not play in 2021. In addition, the NFL could apply a harsh suspension to the Clemson alumnus after his legal process concludes.

Despite Watson’s legal troubles, there were teams interested in the quarterback. On multiple occasions it has been reported that the Dolphins tried to acquire Deshaun.

No Watson available, the Texans signed Tyrod Taylor and drafted David Mills. Ultimately, the rookie won the starting job, started 11 games (2-9 mark) and threw for 2,664 yards, 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

With an eye on the draft

On the other hand, Caserio spoke of the 2022 Draft, which will start on April 28, and assured that they could get rid of their first pick of the recruitment, third overall selection, if they receive a good offer. “Always ready to negotiate. We don’t want to limit ourselves. I’ve always been open-minded about the draft, each team has a different philosophy,” he said.
