With a view to taking part in CAN TOTALENERGIES 2021, Frenchman Claude Marie LE ROY, former coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, has been in the country since yesterday, Friday, January 21, 2022. An impressive reception system has moreover was set up for his reception at the Hilton hotel in Yaoundé where he took up residence yesterday evening, around 8 p.m.
And to welcome the French technician, dance groups and other folk events; effigies to the glory of the winner of the CAN 1988 in the Cherifian kingdom, with the Indomitable Lions. “Claude LEROY you are at home”, can we read at the bottom of the effigies, in the middle of young dancers with tireless enthusiasm. It is Cameroon that celebrates its hero. When he steps onto the steps of the hotel, Marie Claude LE ROY is not surprised in the first degree. He knows very well this Cameroonian hospitality and warmth.
Arriving in Cameroon in 1985, Marie Claude LEROY became a legend. It was he who went to unearth the fabulous BIYICK brothers (KANA and OMAM) in their native Pouma, in Sanaga Maritime, the former province of Centre. The Frenchman unfortunately lost the hot and stormy CAN final of 1986 against Egypt, the organizing country, before doing it again two years later in Morocco: Marie Claude LEROY hoisted the Cameroonians to the roof of the continent: 1 to 0 against in Nigeria, with a penalty converted by the intractable libero Emmanuel KUNDÉ, following a foul on Roger MILLA.
