NBA, Trade Deadline – News and Rumors: Hawks star John Collins reportedly frustrated

John Collins is said to be growing frustrated with his role with the Atlanta Hawks – could that make him a trade candidate before the February deadline? Meanwhile, the Celtics do not want to break up their star duo and several playoff teams are up to Jerami Grant. All the latest trade rumors from the NBA can be found here.

NBA Trade Rumors: Collins Frustrated With Hawks Role?

Wie Shams Charania (The Athletic), citing several anonymous sources, reports that John Collins is unhappy with his role with the Atlanta Hawks. The 24-year-old just signed a lucrative contract extension for five years and 125 million dollars in Atlanta last summer, but his scoring (17.5 points), his throw attempts per game and his usage rate have steadily declined over the past three years .

Collins ‘allegedly mounting frustration, as well as the Hawks’ disappointing start to the season (17-22, 12th east), could result in the power forward becoming available before the February 10th trade deadline. Due to its contract extension in the summer, it can only be traded from January 15th.

In the past, there should have been arguments between Collins and teammates in the dressing room when he denounced what he saw as the Hawks’ team basketball. According to Shams, Collins has the feeling that his voice has remained unheard.

Marc Stein (Substack) brought up the Hawks as a potential prospect for Ben Simmons, and Charania also referred to Atlanta as a candidate for a Simmons trade alongside the Kings, Trail Blazers, Timberwolves and Pacers, among others. The Hawks could possibly put a package around Collins and Cam Reddish. Whether the Hawks are really ready to put this deal on the table and whether this is enough to fulfill Philly’s wish for a star in return is currently open.

NBA, Boston Celtics: Probably not a Tatum or Brown trade

In view of the so far disappointing Boston Celtics season, speculation has recently been circulating as to whether the traditional franchise could break up the duo Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown before the trade deadline. This does not seem to be an option for the Celtics themselves.

According to information from Charania, Boston has told rival teams that the franchise wants to continue to build its roster around the two all-stars Tatum and Brown. Other, unnamed players could, however, become available on the trade market. Dennis Schröder is considered a potential trade candidate for the Celts. Boston is currently 10th in the east with 19 wins and 21 losses.

NBA, trade rumors: Several playoff teams on Grant

A trade by Jerami Grant from the Detroit Pistons in the next four weeks is very likely. Charania has now named the Wizards, Knicks, Blazers and Lakers as interested parties, and other playoff teams are said to have also kept an eye on the 27-year-old.

Grant is currently out due to a thumb injury, but is widely recognized as one of the most prominent names in this year’s trade market. In the current season he put on an average of 20.1 points and 4.8 rebounds in 24 missions at 41.4 percent from the field and 33.1 percent from downtown. Grant makes $ 20 million this season and his contract runs until 2023.

NBA Rumors: John Wall’s trade unlikely

John Wall has no future with the Houston Rockets, but a trade or buyout for the 31-year-old seems unlikely at this point in time, according to Charania. Wall is still under contract for $ 91.7 million through 2023, which should put off interested teams.

However, according to the report, there could be several interested parties should John Wall be available as a free agent, which in turn should only be possible through a buyout. So far, Wall has refused. The point guard hasn’t played a game this season as the Rockets rely on their young talent.
