Years of effort rewarded

This year, Anna proudly ties a black belt around her waist. “I already had my points to get the black belt, I only had to pass the kata,” smiles the high school student. This change of category rewards his unfailing diligence in judo. Deprived of her favorite sport for the past two years because of the Covid, the young girl has been compelled to a sports program from her home, in Vitry-sur-Orne.

“I missed doing judo a lot. What I like coming out of training is this well-being after having spent myself. In order not to lose too much in physical condition, I regularly did muscle building at home. This allowed me to quickly regain a good level when I resumed in September”. Frédéric Merel, his trainer, adds: “And to get the kata only two months later, with the congratulations of the jury, it’s not nothing! »

A spirit of champion

Rather reserved, Anna Wojas seems quickly destabilized when she is asked questions. But on the tatami, the young lady is ruthless. His track record bears witness to this. At 17, she is already Moselle champion, regional vice-champion and Grand Est bronze medalist and more recently selected for the French cadet cup.

“I admit, I don’t like to lose! It puts a lot of stress on me before a competition. I’m in my bubble, very focused. Once the fight has begun, I look for the gesture that must be made to approach perfection. This allowed me to reverse complicated situations. In everyday life, it’s the same, you have to surpass yourself. Injured in the ankle, Anna Wojas has not yet had the pride of participating in a black-belted competition, but it is only a postponement.
