MERSIN (AA) – SERKAN AVCI – Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club (MSK) Women’s Basketball Team, one of the Turkish Women’s Basketball League teams, wants to crown the season, which it made a fast entry by winning the Women’s Federation Cup, by being promoted to the Super League.
Mersin team defeated Emlak Konut 69-66 in the final of the Basketball Women’s Federation Cup, where they competed in the pre-season, and experienced great joy by reaching the championship.
MSK Women’s Basketball Team, which entered the league fast and won 4 games in a row, closed the first half of the season 3rd with 12 wins and 3 losses.
In the first match of the second half of the season, the Mersin team hosted Bodrum Karya in its home ground, defeating its opponent 86-42, achieving its 13th victory and retaining its place in the points ranking.
Being the only foreigner in its squad, MSK Women’s Basketball Team wants to successfully complete the league where it mainly competes with Turkish athletes.
Mersin team aims to finish the league at the top and advance to the Super League next season.

Head coach İbrahim Sağdıç told AA correspondent that they brought an important success to Mersin by winning the Basketball Women’s Federation Cup.
Stating that they made a good start to the season with the morale and motivation the trophy gave, Sağdıç said, “Even though we are a new club, we started the season by winning a top trophy. Our goal was increased after winning the trophy at the beginning of the season. This season, we planned to establish a team that can play in the top 5 more. “We have seen that we can be higher by winning the trophy. Our current goal is to go to the Super League, which is a higher league. My players are capable of doing this. Our club is able to carry them.” he said.
Sağdıç stated that they drew a good graphic in the first half of the league and that they plan to show better performances in the second half.
“We don’t want to lose at all in the second half”
Team captain Nihan Tolgay also stated that the excitement in the team is high.
Expressing that they are struggling to rise to the Super League, Nihan continued as follows:
“We don’t want to lose in the second half. We want to finish the second half very well, like the first half, and take our place at the top. Everyone is very excited, our team chemistry is very good. This is the reason that brings us success. We are like a family. At the end of the season, with the first place, “We were aiming to go to the Super League without playing the play-offs.
