Latvian handball players give way to Lithuania in training

With a result of 36:37 (16:18), Latvia conceded to the Lithuanian handball players, who will start participating in the European Championship next week.

Dainis Krištopāns and Nikita Panchenko scored seven goals for Latvia, Austris Tuminskis and Antons Šuleiko scored five goals, and Nils Miķelsons scored four more goals. Nils Kreicbergs, Oskars Arājs, Elvijs Borovoski scored two more goals, and Emīls Kurzemnieks and Andis Ērmanis scored one more goal.

Meanwhile, in the Lithuanian national team, Aidens Malašinsks was the most productive with seven goals, but Valdis Drabavičs added six goals.

In the last mutual match, which took place in the Riga City Council Cup, the Latvian handball players won the series of post-match throws with the result 35:34.

After winning the Riga City Council Cup, Latvian handball players resumed training on Monday to prepare for the European and World Championship qualifiers.

It has already been reported that the qualifying games of the Latvian 2024 European Championship against Bulgaria, which were scheduled for January 6 in Valmiera and January 9 in Varna, have been postponed. The games have been canceled following the detection of Covid-19 in the Bulgarian national team, and there is no exact time when they will be played.

In turn, in the qualification of the World Championship, on January 14, Latvians will compete with Italy, a day later they will compete with Luxembourg, but on January 16, they will meet with hosts from the Faroe Islands in the last game.
