Yet, the Japanese tennis player, according to the ranking drawn up by ‘Forbes’, was the highest paid sportswoman of the entire calendar year.
Osaka would have earned a whopping 57.3 million dollars in 2021, over 11 million more than in Serena Williams, second in the special ranking with 45.9 million, despite having equally experienced a calendar year lacking in technical satisfactions.
In third place the sister of Serena Williams, Venus, albeit very detached at 11.9 million.
The top ten is dominated by tennis players, with Finals champion Garbine Muguruza in fifth place and number 1 in the WTA ranking in eighth. Ashleigh Barty.
Fourth the gymnast Simone Biles, she too has returned from a troubled calendar year to say the least.
Golf is also well represented, thanks to the 6th place of the South Korean Ko Jin Young and the 9th of Nelly Korda. Badminton player PV Shindu and basketball player Candace Parker complete the top ten.
