KOMPAS.com – Vietnamese media, Danviet, once reported the salary list for soccer coaches working in Southeast Asia in December 2020, one of which was the Indonesian National Team (Timnas) coach, Shin Tae-yong.
The All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has never officially released the salary amount given to Shin Tae-yong, but according to Danviet’s report, the South Korean coach received a salary of one million US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 14.2 billion.
That way, Shin Tae-yong receives a salary of at least IDR 1.1 billion per month. This amount makes Shin Tae-yong one of the highest-paid coaches in Southeast Asia.
Shin Tae-yong’s salary is even higher than the Vietnam national team coach, Park Hang Seo.
Quoted from Vietnamese media Tuoitrenews.vn via KOMPAS.com, Park’s salary to train the Vietnam national team until 2022 is US$50,000 (approximately IDR 709 million) per month.

Shin Tae-yong’s salary is almost the same as Luis Milla
As reported Kompas.com On (12/25/2019), PSSI Deputy General Chair Cucu Soemantri said Shin Tae-yong’s salary was almost equivalent to the previous Indonesian national team coach, Luis Milla.
“Shin Tae-yong’s salary is almost the same (with Luis Milla),” said Grandson.
Luis Milla’s salary for coaching the Indonesian national team for almost two years is IDR 2 billion per month.
Meanwhile, Shin Tae-yong received a fee of 500 thousand US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 7 billion when he coached the South Korean national team at the 2018 World Cup.

Shin Tae-yong’s contract
Regardless of the results obtained by the Indonesian National Team in the 2020 AFF Cup, most Indonesians hope that Shin Tae-yong will be maintained as a coach.
As reported KOMPAS.com On (27/12/2021), the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) of the Republic of Indonesia, Zainudin Amali promised to keep Shin Tae-yong as the coach of the Indonesian National Team after the 2020 AFF Cup.
According to Zainudin Amali, Shin Tae-yong has shown an increase in the quality of the Garuda Squad that he has trained so far.
“I think we have proven it, our children, coach, coach Shin Tae-yong and his team have proven it,” said Zainudin Amali.
“We will host the FIFA U20 World Cup in 2023, so we still need a coach, and Shin Tae-yong will still be the coach for the U20 team that competes. Shin Tae-yong is safe. I guarantee that,” he said.
Meanwhile, quoted from the Transfermarkt page, Shin Tae-yong is contracted until December 2023 to train the Indonesian national team.
