Here is the new protocol for football, basketball and volleyball

The white smoke seems close for the new rules that will reduce the discretion of the ASL to allow a uniform management of cases of positivity to Covid-19 in the top football, basketball and volleyball championships.

The document underlines the validity of the famous circular of the “soft” quarantine, the same that allowed the restart of Serie A after the lockdown, allowing the close contacts of the positives to continue to train and play the games.

The protocol, which will be examined by the CTS before becoming a circular from the Ministry of Health, also sets a new “stake”: upon reaching the threshold of 35% of positives between players and athletes of the team group, the match in question will be postponed: basically, in a football squad of 33-34 players, you could play regularly with a maximum of eleven positive cases, from twelve onwards no more.

The concept of “team group” would not include players from the Primavera or the youth sectors.

This is the point of greatest discontinuity with the protocol prepared by the Serie A League, criticized for example by the president of Turin Cairo and other clubs.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport there is another guideline that should limit the discretion on the part of the ASL. A stringent interpretative key for the other quarantine, the so-called “soft” one, included in the latest circular of the Ministry of Health of 30 December 2021.

If the soft quarantine is in force for the single positivity, in the event of more cases the new rules come into play: whoever is vaccinated with a dose of no more than 120 days (four months), would not be stopped but should implement “self-monitoring “. Those who have been inoculated less recently go into “soft” quarantine (so they can play games) for three days and not in isolation for five days (as expected for all citizens).
