Club Brugge beat STVV 2-0 on Saturday. Blauw-Zwart had to do without Noa Lang. He was suspended after his red card in the derby against Cercle Brugge. The question is how Schreuder Lang will fit into his team.

According to Gert Verheyen, it is already certain who will have to give up his place. “Buchanan of course!” he said at The newspapaer. Tajon Buchanan joined during the winter internship and was immediately allowed to make his debut against STVV. “You couldn’t call his match great,” says Verheyen.

“If Noa Lang takes the place of Buchanan, he will be able to attack freely in possession. On the left, sure, but Schreuder also gives his offensive players the freedom to switch positions, like national coach Roberto Martinez does with the Red Devils”, the analyst knows.

Setup

Alfred Schreuder opted for a 3-5-2 formation on Saturday with Clinton Mata and Tajon Buchanan as wingbacks. “At a certain moment Lang will attack through the center and Vanaken or De Ketelaere on the left. So there you are with your 3-5-2 in which Lang is supposedly the left winger”, concluded Verheyen.

Club is presented with some tough matches. The next matchday, the blue-black has to go to Standard and a few days later they face leader Union at home. Less than a week later, the first semi-final against AA Gent follows.

“Als Noa Lang de plaats inneemt van Buchanan, dan zal hij in balbezit vrij kunnen aanvallen. Over links, zeker, maar Schreuder geeft zijn offensieve spelers ook de vrijheid om van positie te wisselen, zoals bondscoach Roberto Martinez doet bij de Rode Duivels”, weet de analist.

Opstelling

Alfred Schreuder koos zaterdag voor een 3-5-2-opstelling met Clinton Mata en Tajon Buchanan als wingbacks. “Op een bepaald moment zal Lang door het centrum aanvallen en Vanaken of De Ketelaere over links. Dus daar sta je met je 3-5-2 waarin Lang zogezegd de linkerwinger is”, sloot Verheyen af.

Club krijgt enkele zware wedstrijden voorgeschoteld. De volgende speeldag moet blauw-zwart naar Standard en enkele dagen later nemen ze het thuis op tegen leider Union. Een kleine week later volgt de eerste halve finale tegen AA Gent.
