According to several reports, Fabio Cannavaro is about to take over a national team. For the 2006 world champions, this would also be a return to European football.

Apparently the Polish Football Association is trying to convince the ex-world footballer to become a national coach. Accordingly, there would be a contract until 2024 and a salary of around two million euros per year, announced the Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian already has a prominent proponent. FIFA world footballer Robert Lewandowski is enthusiastic about Cannavaro and even gave the decisive impetus to signing the former defender himself.

Next step in his career

For Cannavaro, taking over the Polish national team would not only be his sixth position as a coach, but also a return to European football. Before that, he had worked as a coach in China for years and had even coached the Chinese national team on an interim basis. In the 2015/16 season he also worked for the Saudi club Al-Nassr Riyadh.

In Poland, the Neapolitan could succeed the Portuguese Paulo Sousa, who had terminated his contract in favor of the takeover of Flamengo. In any case, Cannavaro would not have time to get used to it. On March 24th, Poland will face Russia in the semi-finals of the World Cup qualification.
