Dutchman Alfred Schreuder is the new coach of Club Brugge | Jupiler Pro League

Club Brugge had to switch quickly after the imminent departure of Philippe Clement to AS Monaco. In his search for a successor, Blauw-Zwart ended up with the Dutchman Alfred Schreuder.

The 49-year-old Dutchman takes assistant Danijel Zenkovic and goalkeeper coach Carlo l’Ami with him in his wake. The trio signed an indefinite contract with Club and will already join the winter internship in Marbella tonight.

Schreuder had been out of work since October. Then he was thanked for services rendered by Barcelona. He was assistant to head coach Ronald Koeman, who had to leave. He also fulfilled the role of assistant at Ajax and Hoffenheim earlier in his career. He assisted Erik ten Hag in the 2018-2019 season that the team from Amsterdam caused a furore in the Champions League.

But the 49-year-old trainer also has experience as a T1. For example, he was working at Hoffenheim. He succeeded Julian Nagelsmann there in 2019. His time was up after a little less than a year. His brief stint as head coach at Twente in 2014-2015 was not very successful.

Now Schreuder, ex-midfielder of RKC, NAC, Feyenoord, Twente and Vitesse, is taking the reins at Club Brugge. It will be his first passage in our country.

The assignment is clear: the double. Club Brugge is still competing in the cup and of course wants to extend its national title. Schreuder would join Club’s training camp in Spain in the course of the week.
