On December 18, Novak Djokovic posed without a mask for an award ceremony for the French newspaper “L’Équipe”.
However, his lawyers have now announced that the Serb tested positive for Covid on December 16, just two days before the photo.

What happened?
Two medical committees from the state of Victoria and the state of Australia had given Djokovic and five other participants in the Australian Open an exceptional permit to participate in the tournament, as they were apparently not vaccinated against corona. In addition, according to court documents, Djokovic claims that he had been informed that he met the criteria for entry. But the border guards disagreed. Djokovic was refused entry at the airport, he is currently in a deportation hotel.
The English BBC then reported that Djokovic was said to have been infected with Corona for the second time in mid-December. “The date of the first positive Covid-PCR test was recorded on December 16, 2021,” said his lawyers in court documents. This infection is said to have enabled him to grant the exception.
But also on the said December 16, Djokovic appeared in public – at an event organized by the Serbian Post. He hugged teenage fans without a mask. It is unclear whether the vaccination skeptic already knew about his positive corona test at this point – if it really exists.
