DFB Cup: HSV in Cologne and FC St. Pauli against BVB on free TV

It could seem like a déjà vu to some people these days, the scheduling of the three cracking games from and between HSV and St. Pauli allows it. Review: At the beginning of August, the Kiezklub survived the first round of the DFB Cup in Magdeburg thanks to a 3-2 win, while HSV did the same with a 2-1 win in Braunschweig. A week and a game later, St. Pauli beat their neighbors 3-2 in the derby and extended their unofficial title as city champions. The story is well known.

On Tuesday, a good five months later, it’s cup time again for Hamburg’s professional clubs. And again, the city duel on Friday is already casting its shadow – even if the coaches don’t want to waste any thought on it yet.

The HSV coach is focusing his full attention on the round of 16 (6.30 p.m., live on free TV on Sport1 and on Sky) at 1. FC Köln: “We want to go one round, everything else is not our focus yet,” emphasizes TimWalter. St. Pauli coach Timo Schultz also only has the “pure anticipation” for the home game against Borussia Dortmund (8.45 p.m., live on ARD and Sky) in mind, wants to go into the game “full power” – and (still ) don’t think about the derby.

Who gets it and advances to the next round? After the bumpy start to the year (HSV only played 1-1 in Dresden, St. Pauli 2-2 against Aue), none of the rivals will say no to a shot of self-confidence.
