Corona-related cancellation of the judo festival – German Judo Federation

Hard decision

After an intensive exchange between the German Judo Federation (DJB), the district administration of the Rhein-Lahn district, the Bad Ems-Nassau community, the city of Bad Ems, the Rhineland Judo Association (JVR) and the Judo Club Bad Ems 1971 eV the district administration and associated municipality have now decided to postpone the planned event by one year.

Containing the development of the pandemic continues to have absolute priority and taking into account the many factors that are developing negatively rather than positively, a postponement of the judo festival was unavoidable. A heavy blow for the judoka all over Germany.

The Judo Festival was a beacon of hope during this difficult time and should ensure a strong bond between our members and volunteers at the DJB. It is of central importance for our society that encounters and sports remain possible.

In the current situation, it would be irresponsible to hold a judo festival with so many guests from all regions of Germany, also with regard to the many question marks regarding the organization under Corona conditions.

“A lot has been done on all sides, DJB, JVR and municipality, to plan and carry out this event in Bad Ems in the interests of sport. All of you and the many volunteers who have worked for months deserve our respect. Neither the city of Bad Ems nor the DJB were able to influence the general conditions,” emphasizes the new board member Andreas Kleegräfe.
