Ex-journalist Gui Polspoel has doubts about the Vandenhaute-Mannaert tandem. “I don’t understand the link to Mannaert,” he said at The last news. “Vincent has not been convicted, but is suspected in a file from the judiciary that is not nothing. For a new start in football, anyone who has been discredited must step aside.”

Wouter Vandenhaute will seriously do his best to boost the image of Belgian football again. “That is not a gift now, now that all that rottenness is emerging, that people take millions of euros of black money and cheat while football is already the most advantaged sports sector,” Polspoel concluded.

Voor een nieuwe start in het voetbal moet al wie in opspraak gekomen is, een stap opzijzetten.”

Wouter Vandenhaute zal serieus zijn best mogen doen om het imago van het Belgisch voetbal weer op te krikken. “Dat is nu geen cadeau, nu al die rottigheid bovenkomt, dat mensen miljoenen euro’s zwart geld pakken en sjoemelen terwijl het voetbal al de meest bevoordeelde sportsector is”, sloot Polspoel af.
