It’s that time again on Wednesday. The first Clasico of 2022 is on the program. In Austria, however, the TV screen remains black.
Real Madrid with ÖFB team player David Alaba and the crisis-ridden FC Barcelona duel in the semifinals of the Spanish Supercup. The winner is in the final, where they face the winner of the Atletico Madrid-Athletic Bilbao duel (Thursday).
The Clasico will take place on Wednesday (8 p.m.) in an unusual location: in the Saudi capital Riyadh. The Spanish Supercup final tournament took place there as early as 2021. Due to the current form, the “royal” around defensive boss Alaba are of course the clear favorites, as Real are clearly leading the Spanish championship.
No TV broadcast
Although the trial of strength between the two Spanish top teams is a real football tidbit, drawing millions of fans worldwide under its spell, the match will not be shown live on TV – at least in Austria. Because no local broadcaster secured the transmission rights for the Spanish Supercup. Not even the DAZN streaming portal. Local football fans who want to look Alaba on their feet are looking into the black.
However, this is not new. The last two editions of the Spanish Supercup were not seen in Austria.
