The film series of the renowned Japanese filmmaker would take place this week at the cinematheque of the city of Puebla

This cycle focused on a very representative selection of seven japanese feature films of the productions of the Japanese director Akira Kurosawa that were scheduled for the week of January 11-15.
Akira Kurosawa was one of the most famous directors of japanese cinema. His filmography consists of more than 30 movies, shot along five decades, which include influential titles such as “Rashōmon“,” The mad dog “(Nora inu) or “The legend of the great judo” (Sugata Sanshiro).
During his career he was awarded in festivals like Berlin, Venice, Cannes and Moscow. In 1952 and 1970 he obtained the Oscar for Best Foreign Film for the tapes “Rashomon” Y “Dersu Uzala” (The hunter). In 1990, he was awarded the Honorary Oscar for his career as a filmmaker.
As part of the programming, it was planned to inaugurate the cycle with the screening of the film “The legend of Judo”(Japan, 1943), on Tuesday, January 11 at 5:00 p.m. This film captures the life of Sanshiro Sugata, a disciple of Shogoro Yano, a judo master that helps you cultivate the principles and values to guide your life.
The cycle would continue with the following titles: “Yojimbo the mercenary“(1961),” Live “(1952),”Scandal“(1950),” The seven samurai “(1954),”Red beard“(1965),” Kagemusha: the shadow of the warrior “(1980).
