BVB is planning with Akanji, Zagadou and Pongracic

Borussia Dortmund is already working intensively behind the scenes on the medium and long-term future of the squad. Now it is leaking out how BVB is planning with Manuel Akanji, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Marin Pongracic, who is on loan from VfL Wolfsburg.

BVB conceded 26 goals in the first half of the season – too many for the demands of a top team and probably too many to be dangerous for Bayern in the championship fight. Only two teams in the upper half of the table are defensively more vulnerable than the black and yellow.

With regard to the defense center, there are some question marks waiting for BVB sports director Michael Zorc and his designated successor Sebastian Kehl.

Dan-Axel Zagadou’s contract ends in the summer. This also applies to Marin Pongracic’s guest appearance on loan. And with Manuel Akanji, BVB’s currently most stable central defender is only tied to the club until the end of June 2023.

BVB: Another great appreciation for Dan-Axel Zagadou

According to “kicker”, Zagadou, who missed the start of the second half of the season due to a positive corona test, can have legitimate hopes for continued employment in Dortmund despite his numerous injuries in the recent past.

The 22-year-old Frenchman is still highly regarded within the club for his footballing qualities. There is “a lot to be said for an extension,” writes the specialist magazine.

The situation is similar with Akanji. BVB would like to retain the Swiss national player in the long term, it is said. However, Akanji is said to have sparked international desires with his strong performances in the last few weeks and months.

Marin Pongracic’s whereabouts at BVB “rather questionable”

Pongracic, on the other hand, has no future at BVB. The performance of the 24-year-old in his previous appearances in the Dortmund jersey is manageable.

Then there was the Croatian’s controversial Twitch interview at the beginning of November, which raised doubts among those responsible about his professional view of the profession.

The whereabouts of the defensive player on loan from Wolfsburg is therefore “rather questionable,” reports the “kicker”.

Meanwhile, Mats Hummels is outside of all BVB defensive personnel simulation games. After a deployment clause has been deleted, his contract runs until 2023.
