Erling Haaland is constantly trying to learn and orienting himself towards other strikers. For example to Jamie Vardy, as he now reveals.

Borussia Dortmund’s star striker Erling Haaland has revealed that he learns a very specific thing from Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy for his game.

In an interview with Sky Sports Haaland replied when asked which players he was learning from: “Let’s take, for example, running behind the central defenders when number 10 has the ball. You (in England, ed.) have perhaps the best in the world in in that regard, Jamie Vardy.”

BVB: Erling Haaland also took a lot of inspiration from van Persie

The 21-year-old Norwegian continues: “I learn a lot from him in this regard. I’ve always watched a lot of football and I still do. If we play on Saturdays, I’ll sit at home on Sundays and watch football all day.”

At 35, Vardy continues to be a key player at Leicester, whose goals he sensationally led to the English championship title in 2016. The Englishman has scored nine goals in 16 Premier League appearances this season.

In the past, however, he often looked very closely at former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie, Haaland explained. “He was left-footed too. He scored a lot of goals so as a left-footed player it was clear to me that I would watch him a lot.”
