Bundesliga – Easy winner in Cologne (0-4), Bayern Munich keeps its distance in mind

Bayern Munich again made a show of force in the Bundesliga this Saturday afternoon. Julian Nagelsmann’s men were ruthless at the RheinEnergieStadion, where they crushed FC Cologne (0-4). If the midfielder of the France team, Corentin Tolisso, scored a very classy goal before half an hour, the man of the day is again called Robert Lewandowski. Author of a hat-trick, the Polish striker of the German champions reached the maddening bar of 300 goals in the Bundesliga. Lewandowski is now 65 goals from the absolute record in the German championship, held by Gerd Müller.

Tolisso, scorer with style

Before this meeting, Anthony Modeste’s FC Cologne had not won any of their last 15 Bundesliga games against Munich’s Rekordmeister. A statistic that the start of the match fully helped us to understand. A few minutes were enough for Robert Lewandowski to open the scoring, on a service from Thomas Müller after a high and determined recovery from Corentin Tolisso (0-1, 9th). Not worried by opponents who were too technically limited, the German champions quickly took shelter. Tolisso thus scored his first goal this season in the Bundesliga, with a superb strike in the top corner from the left after an equally aesthetic service from Müller (0-2, 25th).

300 Bundesliga goals for Lewandowski

The Bavarians never really doubted, despite the goal of Mark Uth refused for an obvious offside at the half hour mark (31st). After the opportunities of Lewandowski, defeated by Marvin Schwäbe face-to-face (51st) and Jamal Musiala, who found the post (54th), Bayern’s steamroller got back on the road. Entering the hour mark, Leroy Sané signed two very talented assists for his Polish striker with the fatal ball strike (0-3, 62nd) and (0-4, 74th).

A welcome hat-trick for Robert Lewandowski: the Warsaw native now has 300 goals in 373 Bundesliga games. At 33, will he be able to get closer to the 365 goals scored between 1964 and 1979 by another illustrious Bayern scorer, Gerd Müller? In any case, Bayern regains a 6-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga over Erling Haaland’s Borussia Dortmund.
