Brigitte Macron and Didier Deschamps kick off the Yellow Pieces operation

Over the decades, it has become the unmissable event for generosity at the start of the year with its emblematic collection and its piggy bank: the Yellow Pieces operation began this Wednesday, January 12 and will last until February 5.

The official launch took place, La Poste du Louvre in Paris in the presence of Brigitte Macron, president of the Fondation Hôpitaux de Paris – Hôpitaux de France since June 2019, and Didier Deschamps, sponsor of the operation for the fourth year.

The First Lady and the coach of the French football team notably met children from a karate group from the Ile-de-France region, who had specially come with their personalized Yellow Pieces piggy banks.

“All causes deserve to be defended. I am particularly sensitive to that of children. Helping the daily life of these hospitalized children and adolescents is very important to me, explains Deschamps. It is always a pride, a privilege to provide support to all these families to raise awareness, even if the period is difficult, complicated. Illness is the most difficult fight. I am amazed, each time, by the lesson in life from these children. There is nothing more beautiful than to see them with a smile. “

Last year, the campaign was completely dematerialized due to the health context. If donations can still be made via the operation’s website (piecesjaunes.fr), sending an SMS (send DONATION to 92 111) or even opening an online kitty, in 2022, piggy banks are back.

A special feature, however, is that the boxes used to create the harvest boxes are no longer distributed. All participants are invited this time to make their own container. From now on, everyone can therefore create their own piggy bank using a jam jar, a cake box… “It’s more eco-responsible and easier,” observes Brigitte Macron. You customize and you call on your creativity. There is only one rule: remember to bring your piggy bank to a post office before February 5, 2022 »

This 33rd edition will, as always, raise funds for the Hospital Foundation, in order to improve the lives of hospitalized children and adolescents.

Since the launch of the operation in 1989, the Yellow Pieces have raised around 100 million euros, enough to build 70 “family houses” intended to bring families closer to the hospital, to set up playrooms in the hospitals or improve the daily comfort of hospitalized children. In all, nearly 9,300 projects have been financed throughout the territory.
